So Many Books; So Little Money.

I've done alot of things in my life. Careers, not so much. But, what I have done since I could pick up a book was read. Stories, wonderful stories. Take me away. Become part of a different world. Enjoy myself, dream.

In high school, I had an art teacher that taught English for recertification. Imagine that. I also had a French teacher that had to recertify. She also taught English.

You know the English I'm talking about. Diagraming sentences, spelling, and reading literature.

Literature is another word for stories. Yes, stories. Good stories, yes. Classic stories, of course. And some stories that I didn't want to read, but did.

"Catcher in the Rye". Cyrano de Bergerac. Silas Mariner. Anne Frank.

The world didn't revolve around books. But, the printed word was powerful. Memories of who, what, where and when all came together to spin tales of daring do, avarice, heroism, heartbreak and sorrow. The kinds of stories you remember. The kinds of stories you want to forget but can't. The kinds of stories that shaped my life.

Now, in my sunset years, I find that I have a compulsion to read as many books as I can get my hands on. The genre is romace novels. There are certain people I read faithfully. There are others that I've read sporatically and then there are those that I wait for the next books with bated breath.

I don't have alot of money now. It didn't matter when I was working. I bought what I wanted when I wanted. Being on a fixed income is tougher than I expected it to be. Isn't that what everyone is saying these days?

My solution would be that I could become an advanced reader. I would love to get all the books that are coming out, before the published date. I don't know how to go about it. I know, I'll do research on the internet.  Heck, I could even write something. I dream big but somehow never have the time to follow thru.

I have another blog at this site. It's my and my husband's journey that has been happening since 2008. Maybe some have read it. Probably not. Oh well. I'm off for now. I have to go read a book.
